This is a proposal for the dedication of restricted byway rights in Houghton, under Section 25 of the Highways Act 1980. Following the diversion order for part of Houghton Footpath 7 the landowner, with agreement for the adjacent
landowner, have agreed to dedicate restricted byway rights on Houghton Footpath 7.
The proposed route commences at a junction with North Houghton Lane (an adopted road, Point A on the plan) and proceeds north-westward along the existing alignment of Footpath 7 to Point B. 4 metres wide between Point A and
B, running along the private access road; 3 metres surfaced with half a metre either side on the grass verge. 2-metre-wide carriage gate, east of the cattle grid at Point B, (which will be re-sited 0.3 metres to the west as part of the creation agreement), then bearing north-eastwards along 4 metre wide field edge path to Point D, post and rail fencing to the west from Point D, 5-metre wide grass path and F, to a junction with Houghton BOAT 13, 2 metre wide carriage gate at Point F.
