Outcomes from the consultation on social care provision for overnight short breaks at Firvale Residential Respite Childrens Unit.

To consider a report of the Director of Children's Services for the following:  Approval was granted (in January 2022) to undertake a public consultation on the proposal for Social Care provision at Firvale Respite Children’s home to remain closed. Firvale is a residential respite unit, in Basingstoke, for children who have a disability. The service has been closed since the start of the Covid pandemic in March 2020.

Consultation process

Following the Elected Member Decision Day, January 2022 both public and staff consultation exercises were undertaken.

Consultees

The consultation was publicised across Hampshire generally, and to affected children and their families specifically, in total 58 responses were received. All staff based at Firvale were included in the consultation exercise.
